Hi Jason,
Hope you had a restful holiday break. While I did spend as much time as possible with family.. I have also been focusing on preparing materials to send to you for the "FACTORY" exhibit.
Let me introduce Roberta Chambers to you in this email. She lives in the greater New Haven area and has graciously agreed to meet with you to help coordinate materials for the PMVI 1984 part of the project. Roberta is the creator of the silk-screened poster you mentioned is already framed and in the exhibit. I hope that will be labeled to give her and the others who worked collaboratively to produce it credit.
Roberta is also the owner of the photographs I shared with you. She received the photos from the photographer Beverly Eliasoph (also a participant in the '84 exhibition). Unfortunately Beverly has passed away.
Roberta is willing to meet with you and I am more than certain that she will be able to add to your understanding of the relevance the 1984 show had to those involved and the community at large. Roberta is responsible for much of the visual quality of the '84 event as well as her own sound installation art work for the exhibit.. also documented by one of the Eliasoph photographs.
Roberta and I worked together throughout the 1980's decade on many projects after the '84 show and have stayed in touch since then.
All that being said.. I am in the process of gathering the artifacts and documents to send to you. Some I will be able to gift to the museum as I have multiples (assuming you want them) and others I will need to be reassured of their return (as we discussed in our last conversation).
I have cleared my schedule to focus on completing what we discussed before the break. I will be preparing a essay about my experience at PMVI in the early years leading to the '84 exhibit. developing an curiosity about how these activities on Hamilton Street affected the more mainstream arts community on Audubon Street.
I will also organize and send the physical artifacts and documents which will provide primary source documentation.
My plan is to stay in touch with both you and Roberta as we move forward to finish this work in as timely a way as possible.
